Kansas City

I went to college in the suburbs of Kansas City, but did not get into the city as much as I would have liked while there.  Fortunately, my sister Shannon and brother-in-law Randy now live in KC and gave Paul and I a tour.  Friday night we ate KC BBQ at their favorite spot, Joe’s and enjoyed delicious, fall-off-the-bone ribs.  The next day we hit up the downtown area, which has definitely changed for the better since I was in school.  We explored Union Station and then rode the free and fairly new streetcar that runs to River Market.  Along with the typical locally sourced produce, the market also sells spices and ethnic cuisine out of a historical building that looks largely unchanged since it was built in the 1930s.  We opted to walk back to Union Station to take in the sights of KC and were awarded with some great views of the skyline.  We finished the day at Moti Mahal in Westport for some amazing Indian food.  Paul and I enjoyed exploring and spending time with family, as well as eating ALL THE FOOD.  Thanks, Kansas City, for a lovely weekend.
