This summer I traveled to Chicago to photograph Maddy and Nick’s wedding. Maddy and Nick are a sweet couple who also happen to share the same birthday! Their morning began by reading letters to one another. Wedding days are often crowded and chaotic, with little time for a private moment to communicate. I appreciate it when couples remember what their wedding day is all about and set aside moments for one another.
All morning, rain poured down in buckets. But just before we left the Gwen Hotel, the skies cleared in time for Maddy and Nick’s ceremony at the beautiful St. Michael in Old Town. We traveled to Lincoln Park and Michigan Avenue for portraits, with the Chicago skyline as the perfect backdrop. As we were finishing the last of the photos, raindrops reappeared and we scurried back to the hotel just in time to avoid the returning storm.
When we arrived, Maddy was ecstatic to see the reception room decorated like a “fairy garden.” Coordinator Lindsay Gaeta from MODE events and all of the talented vendors pulled everything together beautifully, from the elegant all-white flowers and silver accents, to the wood candle holders and farm table natural elements. Afterhours DJs got the dance party started, and Maddy and Nick celebrated into the night with their wonderfully kind family and friends.
Congrats, Maddy and Nick, and thank you for your kind and welcoming hearts.
